About NU Rowing Club
The NU Rowing Club is small club run on a non-profit basis with about 50 members (not all of whom are still active rowers).
Though originally only open to members of Norwich Union staff we are now allowed to accept members from outside the company and their immediate families. As we are an affiliated club of NUAA (more commonly referred to as "Pinebanks") our members do have to also be members of Pinebanks Sports and Leisure Club but this is included in the membership fee of £85.
Traditionally the club focused on rowing but this has changed in recent years and all our beginners are taught to scull before they get into a rowing boat.
The club has maintained a number of its old, wooden, restricted boats - both sculls and coxed fours (as well as an ancient 8!) - which are ideal, stable platforms for people completely new to the sport to learn in.
We also have carbon fours, singles and doubles/pairs for club members to progress to or compete in.
